Bhumi Desai

I have known some absolutely beautiful people, but Bhumi Desai is on another plane.  You could be having the worst day of your life, yet if Bhumi talked to you for one minute she would provide so much positivity, such a love for life, and give off so much warmth that you would forget about all your problems, even if only for a moment.  I met Bhumi in July of 2010 and from the moment we found we had a common love of photography, and she became a dear friend of mine despite the short time we had to get to know each other.

One of my favorite memories of Bhumi was when we were sitting next to each other on the bus for an overnight bus ride.  Bhumi was sick and barely had a voice, but it was when she didn't talk that it became clearer than ever how amazing this woman is.  She couldn't really talk, but she was happy to be sitting next to me so she asked me to tell her about myself...and that really struck a chord with me.  We live in an era where most people would rather plug a pair of headphones into their iPod and isolate themselves and giving themselves privacy in public rather than engage in conversation.  So when Bhumi chose to not only opt against the iPod route, she didn't even want to talk...she just wanted to listen.  There's something kind of amazing about that.  I probably bored her ear off, but if I died she never showed any sign of it.  And I adore her for that.

Bhumi, you're going to do great things in your life and you're going to make every person's life you touch along the way a little more joyful.

You, Bhumi Desai, are picture perfect.
